WHY SHOULD YOU FILTER YOUR WATER?

Municipal water facilities don't filter your water. They treat it.

When was the last time your pipes were changed?

Rusted pipes cause lead exposure. Prevent it with Water Pure Home Systems.

IT MIGHT TASTE GOOD

BUT IS IT SAFE?

Flint Water Crisis

On April 25th, 2014 the city of Flint Michigan switched it's water supply from the treated water of Lake Huron to the untreated water of the Flint River. The lack of treatment in the water allowed the highly corrosive water from the Flint River to further corrode rusted municipal and privately owned pipes, causing leaching and the release of lead into the water that highly exceeded public safety levels.

The lead contamination of the water supply had significant public health consequences, with many residents, including children, exposed to elevated levels of lead, a potent neurotoxin.

It took over two years to fix the problem.

HEALTH EFFECTS OF CONTAMINATED WATER

Corroded pipes can release contaminants into the water supply. These contaminants may include heavy metals like lead and copper, as well as bacteria and other microorganisms that can compromise water quality and pose health risks.

Rust can degrade water quality by imparting a metallic taste and odor to the water, making it unpalatable and less likely to be consumed. This can lead to dehydration and other health issues if residents avoid drinking tap water.

Lead in drinking water can have serious health effects, particularly when consumed over extended periods. Some of the key health concerns associated with lead-contaminated water include:

Neurological and Developmental Effects

Lead exposure, especially in children, can lead to developmental and neurological problems. It can cause learning disabilities, decreased IQ, and behavioral issues.

Gastrointestinal Distress

Short-term exposure to high levels of lead in water can result in stomachaches, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)

Even low levels of lead exposure have been linked to an increased risk of high blood pressure in adults.

Kidney Damage

Lead can damage the kidneys and interfere with their function, leading to kidney disease.

Anemia

Lead can interfere with the body's ability to produce hemoglobin, leading to anemia, which can cause fatigue, weakness, and other health problems.

Reproductive Issues

Lead exposure can affect both male and female reproductive systems, leading to fertility issues and complications during pregnancy.

Cardiovascular Effects

Some studies suggest that chronic lead exposure may increase the risk of heart disease.

Behavioral and Mood Changes

Even low levels of lead exposure can have adverse health effects, making it imperative to address lead contamination in drinking water.

To reduce your exposure and mitigate health risks:

  • Replace lead pipes
  • Use water filters certified for lead removal
  • Test water regularly

"I couldn't get food or water down for days after a double procedure. Someone told me to drink ONLY filtered water. Luckily I had a Stainless Steel Over the counter system. Within 24 hours, I could eat and drink better than before! Still using it a year later, and have been able to stop my stomach meds. When I changed out the filter it was covered in RUST. Thank you, Water Pure."  ~Robyn Adamson
